Faculty Awards

The Foundation recognized five UVA faculty members with its 2026 Excellence in Teaching Awards, presenting a total of $25,000 to the winners.

About the Awards

Over the last 20 years, the Foundation has awarded approximately $675,000 to more than 90 faculty members in the College of Arts & Sciences, the School of Education and Human Development, the Frank Batten School of Leadership & Public Policy, the McIntire School of Commerce, the School of Architecture, the School of Engineering and Applied Science, and the School of Medicine.

Selection Process

The Foundation's faculty awards honor teachers in the UVA community who have gone the extra mile in fulfilling their vocation without regard for their own advancement. Department chairs and deans across the University nominate colleagues by submitting letters of support, including from current and former students. A panel of previous award recipients review the nomination materials and select the winners, who are recognized at a special ceremony held at the Foundation.
