Departing Fellows
Twenty-one Jefferson Fellows and five National Fellows departed from the Foundation community this year.
Program Highlights
The Foundation gives Jefferson Fellows an opportunity to prepare and deliver academic talks to a public audience early in their careers through its ongoing Fellows Symposia. Twenty-one Fellows presented this year, sharing their research and helping to foster a rich interdisciplinary dialogue. National Fellows convened at the Foundation twice, both in the fall and spring, for panel and roundtable discussions, as well as peer-to-peer workshops designed to help shape and provide direction for their research.
Significant Achievements
This year, Fellows continued to distinguish themselves through groundbreaking research, public service, and global impact. One Fellow earned the 2025 UVA Engineering Outstanding Ph.D. Student Award, while another developed a wearable navigation system to assist divers in underwater rescue missions. Four Fellows studying at Darden were honored with the William Michael Shermet Award. Among alumni, one played a pivotal role in helping the USDA reform and expand the H-2A program, safeguarding the nation's food supply. Another is contributing to international space exploration through her work on the BepiColombo mission to Mercury. These accomplishments reflect the depth, versatility, and real-world impact of the Fellows community.
